Similar to teak leaf leather, Tamarind leather is made from the shells of the Tamarind fruit. The shells are laid in the sun to dry and then pressed into sheets along with plant fibers by hand. After the sheets have set and dried, an organic cotton backing is bonded to the "leather" for added strength and durability.
